Here at Akute we love everything weird and wonderful, we also adore the alternative.
That’s why when we saw Shortlist magazine had released the nominations for their Best Alternate Film Poster of 2014, we not only had to sit and waste a whole hour at work looking at the nominees and their artists but also created 7 fake e-mail accounts to have extra votes in the hope we win a poster, oh did we mention there’s a chance you can win a poster?!?!
Now in case you haven’t got time to waste (or procrastinate as we like to call it) we thought we’d gather a few of the best and compare them to the actual posters that accompanied the movies.
First up is Matt Needle’s reimagining of the Transformers: Age Of Extinction poster:
Then there is Vero Navarro’s beautiful pastel Her poster:
Next is Michael Lee-Graham’s dark and moody effort. We particularly like the use of the “DO NOT CROSS” tape:
Look at the stunning visuals in this combined effort form Tim Weakland and Kasey Gifford:
Marie Bergeron’s vivid use of purple makes her Guardians of the Galaxy poster stand out from a crowd:
And finally we have this Art Deco twist on Captain America: The Winter Soldier by Rachael Sinclair
Now regardless of whether you liked of of the ones we chose to feature I do urge you to go over to here and have a flick through the gallery and don’t forget to vote for your favourite! You might just win one!!
