The other day I stumbled upon this series of Star Wars concept art from the very talented Ralph McQuarrie (1929-2012). McQuarries designed many of the films characters including Darth Vader, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2. His paintings have gone on to inspire many conceptual artist and I think these are a thing of beauty. This is only a small number of the pictures, there are a lot more from all three films here.
